Utah Gay Ski Week – Welcome to Elevation Utah 2015, the Fifth Annual Park City Gay Ski Week! Elevation Utah is the newest outpost of the wildly successful Elevation Ski Week brand.
For the past 12 years, Elevation Mammoth has taken place in Mammoth Lakes, California and quickly grew to be the 3rd largest gay ski week in North America, now bringing more than 2,500 people to the High Sierras each year. At a time when the many of the large gay party weekends have declined drastically in numbers, attendance at Elevation has increased by leaps and bounds each year.
In 2015, we are excited to continue to bring the fun of Elevation to Park City, Utah as well as Mammoth Lakes.
Utah Gay Ski Week 2015
Why did Elevation become so successful in Mammoth? Probably because Elevation offers a great alternative to the gay party scene. Yes, we have huge dance parties with the biggest DJs in the country, but this weekend is about more than just those parties. When you come to Elevation, you experience some of the best skiing and boarding in the world, at an amazing resort, surrounded by gay guys and girls who are coming together in a spirit of camaraderie and fun.
When we were looking to expand the Elevation brand to a new resort, Park City was at the top of the list from the very beginning. It is an amazing world class resort. Park City has a multitude of venues for events, as well as great restaurants and hotels. One advantage that Park City has over Mammoth is that is is so easy to get to from anywhere in the country because of the close proximity of Salt Lake City airport. You can be in downtown Park City a half hour after you land. Those of you that have attended Elevation Mammoth over the years know the vibe of the event. Elevation draws a friendly, casual group of guys and girls that create a welcoming, non-pretentious, off the wall fun atmosphere. I guarantee you’ll leave this event with new friends and great memories.
“The trails of Park City Mountain Resort descend to the very sidewalks of one of the world’s most vibrant ski towns.” Ski Magazine
“The lightest powder on earth.” Travel + Leisure
When you come to Elevation, you also get more options than just big dance parties. Our signature apres-ski events are more social, “bar-oriented” events, where you can meet (and buy drinks for) friendly guys from all over the country. Fresh off the slopes, margarita in hand, flushed and tan from a sunny day of amazing snowboarding – those are some of our favorite moments.
A (very brief) serious moment. We created Elevation to bring people together in a spirit of celebration and diversity and fun. Park City and Salt Lake City have welcomed us with open arms. We are working with local organizations, including HRC, the Pride Center and others to involve the local charities and organizations in the event. In addition, we’re holding preparties at some of the clubs in SLC. The local gays are excited about the event. (They’re wondering why it took so long for this to happen.)
This is a weekend about serious fun, new and old friends, and a community coming together. So, in the spirit of Elevation, a tip for the weekend that I always give every year: Be friendly. Introduce yourself. This is the kind of weekend where everyone loses the attitude. No judgement, no pretension, no waiting around to see if he talks to you first. The guy you meet one night will be the friend you ski with the next day.
And most importantly, have fun. That’s the reason we do this.
