Brand new flights from London Gatwick to Washington DC and Boston are being offer by low cost carrier WOW to start in 2015.
The legacy carriers are gonna be mad but Iceland's low cost carrier WOW Air has announced it's to start flights to Washington DC and Boston, one way from just £99.
The price includes taxes, but you have to travel from Gatwick airport - and it's not direct, there's a stopover in Keflavík International Airport, in Iceland’s capital Reykjavik.
So what's the catch, well as you would expect for a low-cost operation there's a booking fee of £8.98 and a free to check baggage - £39.
According to the carrier the longer haul section of the flight will be operated on their extended range, single aisle Airbus 321 fleet, whilst the shorter haul first leg to Iceland will be done with their A320 fleet.
WOW plan to fly to Boston five times a week and to Washington DC four times a week.
The airline has been operating since 2011.
Here's a picture of the CEO and Founder Skúli Mogensen - he seems nice. He said,
"This is just the beginning of our plans to transform low-cost transatlantic flights.
"We’re opening up the market to a whole new market of travellers who might previously not have been able to afford transatlantic travel.
"The low-cost airline market is scrambling to offer cheap flights to North America and I’m happy that we‘ll be among the first to do so and at a price point that will no doubt cause our rivals to re-evaluate their plans."
