JOB OPENINGS
STORYTELLING PROJECT MANAGER
Location: Remote/Telecommute from home office
Reporting to: Chief Communications Officer
Family Equality Council has an immediate opening for Storytelling Project Manager to join our Communications Team. The need to change hearts and minds is central to Family Equality Council’s work, and we are focusing resources on identifying and sharing the stories of LGBTQ families as a means to further Family Equality Council’s mission. In particular, we are focused on expanding our use of video stories as a powerful way to connect with supporters, elected officials, allies, and donors.
The ideal candidate will be a talented and creative digital storyteller, who has the technical and interpersonal skills to cultivate relationships with story subjects, shoot documentary-style interviews and b-roll on location, and work with video editors and other contractors to translate raw story content (in written, audio or video form) into polished, digital content for the web and social media.
The successful candidate will also need a strong familiarity with the issues facing LGBTQ families, the ability to work effectively with storytellers from diverse backgrounds across the United States and be an excellent written communicator.
DATABASE MANAGER
Location: Flexible – must be comfortable working from a home-based environment
Reporting to: Chief Development Officer
Under the guidance of the Chief Development Officer, the Database Manager is responsible for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of Family Equality Council’s constituent and donor database, housed in Salesforce. The Database Manager will field and prioritize data requests, produce high quality reports and lists, manage fundraising event data, manage data flow between Salesforce and other applications (including Salesforce NGO Connect, Campaign Monitor, QuickBooks, and Eventbrite), manage highly customized donation and solicitation tracking documents for board members, and coordinate the gift entry and acknowledgement process.
This position coordinates database maintenance and access for all of Family Equality Council’s departments, as well as develops and delivers training to ensure all staff can access and update database records.
FELLOWSHIPS & INTERNSHIPS
PUBLIC POLICY INTERNSHIP
Location: Washington, D.C.
Hours: Half-time (20 hrs/wk) and Full-time (40 hrs/wk) options
Family Equality Council is seeking a Public Policy Intern for Summer 2018 to work with the Federal Policy Advocate in Washington, DC. The Public Policy Intern will help the policy team develop and implement the Every Child Deserves A Family Campaign, linking national and state efforts to protect and promote the rights of LGBTQ people to adopt and foster children. The Public Policy Intern will assist Family Equality’s Policy Team with legislative, regulatory, and policy goals as advocates for LGBTQ parents, youth, and families. The Public Policy Intern will have the opportunity to learn about advocacy campaigns, law and policy affecting LGBTQ families, and the legislative process. The Public Policy Intern will create public policy outreach materials, carry out communications with Congressional staff, carry out research on members of Congress, and will have the opportunity to attend meetings with members of Congress and/or their staff, as well as develop materials and carry out outreach to campaign members.
