Youth Permanency Worker – FT (Oakland Lake Merritt / Grand) Family Builders is a non-profit, licensed foster care and adoption agency, serving children in the foster care system. Family Builders believes that every child has the right to grow up in a permanent, nurturing family regardless of that child’s age, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or medical, physical or emotional condition. Family Builders educates the community about the needs of waiting children, advocates on their behalf, and places children with permanent, secure families through adoption, and other forms of permanence.

The Youth Permanency Social Worker is responsible for working directly with older youth to identify permanency resources, achieve permanency for youth, and provide clinical pre-and post-placement support services. This position will work closely with family members and significant others to support and sustain relationships for the youth.

Youth Permanency Worker Bilingual

The Youth Permanency Social Worker will create a specific recruitment/permanency plan for each youth, contact the significant people in the youth’s life to assess their interest and seek potential adoptive families; coordinate and facilitate family team meetings; develop and implement youth-specific public recruitment plans to locate potential adoptive families for youth; prepare youth for transition into adoptive families and engage in community and recruitment outreach, as required.

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in social work or related field, ability to communicate well with youth, excellent clinical skills, knowledge of and experience with the foster care/child welfare system, including permanency and adoption. Experience and cultural competence working with African American, LGBT, and Latino communities. Must have own car, and be willing to travel. Must be committed to the mission of the program/agency. Differential offered for bi-lingual Spanish speaking
