(GayWebSource.com) – This video is the follow up to “Let It B. Known”. Me and DaQuan, another seriously talented Out Artist, developed this concept together. He showed me the movie Panic Room, which I thoroughly enjoyed and he suggested I use this as a direction for the visual of this song. The concept of running from bad guys is basically what I took from the movie but I came up with some ideas that would make it unique and relevant to me. The song is up to interpretation and the video came out multi-layered, just the way the song is, so you get elements of depth, tension, spirituality and somewhere in there is the actual message in the total piece.
This time I recruited another Florida-based company, Regulus Films and Entertainment based in Miami, to help me produce this clip. It was a very ambitious shoot and we did it all in the span of a 16 hour day. It took A LOT of preparation and it seemed like the week I was ready to make things happen, everything was falling apart. I was very much settled in NYC and knowing I had to be in Florida for this to come together, so some of the costumes I ordered had to get shipped to my friend’s crib in Orlando (one of the suits chasing me). My friend (Ashley Andrew) not only was gracious enough to let me crash at his crib for a couple days, he ran me around Orlando to get the whatever props I couldn’t bring with me on the plane (TSA rules, yadda yadda yadda). There was costuming that I apparently ordered from Hong Kong unknowingly (that’s online shopping for ya) that never made it on time, so me and my friend made a last minute run to a nearby Military Surplus store just before they closed, with barely enough money to buy the gear.
Then after all that, we had to wake up at the crack of dawn the morning of Friday, March 1, 2013 to pick up my other two friends for the video (the other suit and my sleeping security guard) before making the 3.5 hour trip down to Miami, on time to browse the studio where we were filming and set up the rooms we needed. (Whew!) The shooting went smooth, and the energy was good because I had not seen these friends since I left Florida a couple years ago, so it was a reunion of sorts. Then after we wrapped shooting, my friend Ashley drove us all back to Orlando, so were talking over 22 hours straight of non-stop activity. OMG.
Master Majj who was the main producer of this track, lives in Miami so he was able to make it to the shoot. Sadly, MDJ, my other production partner, could not come through for this video but obviously, I’m forever indebted to all the work him and Majj did to help me me put together the original album where this song is found, so that’s why I gave my boys the shout out in the song. Crew Love!
