Debut music video from Austin’s indie dance music artist Jon Alkalay.

Jon is originally from Brazil and moved to Austin, Texas 13 years ago to be with his partner who got a job in the country. Here’s a bit of his story…  “My partner and I have been together for 17 years and I basically moved to US to be with the person I love. It was always hard for me since gay marriages were not allowed and I suffered a lot in order to be able to stay in the US legally for all these years. Nevertheless, with a lot of hard work, I managed to do so. I went to school again and after graduating, I established a successful career in the life insurance business, where I have been for the past 10 years. However, my real passion and gift have always been music, which I had to abandon in order to secure my residency in the country through a regular job. However, the music has always been there; suffocated…. Thus, I decided it was time to let it come out again and live my real and only dream, to be an artist”, stated Jon.

By the way, that is what his first single “Putting Myself First” is about and it can also be downloaded via iTunes or Amazon. Alkalay is now busy in the studio – writing, producing and putting the finishing touches on his debut album which is planned for release in late 2013 or early 2014.
