Growing primary care medical practice seeks experienced Medical Assistant to work in our Millburn, NJ office. Position is full-time. Our current work schedule is Monday-Thursday and Saturday. The days off for this position are Fridays and Sundays.
Medical Assistant and Patient Care Coordinator
The practice specializes in care for members of the LGBT community, and also specializes in HIV patient care. Prospective candidates should have experience with and interest in serving these communities. You must explain your interest in and experience with these communities in your cover letter!
At least four years of relevant experience in a medical setting is required.
Responsibilities of the position:

Welcome patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering questions and/or referring inquiries to other staff members.

Schedule, update, and confirm patient appointments.

Collect and record patient payments; process credit card transactions.

Prepare patients for the health care visit by accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns, and setting up the examination room.

Verify patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.

Help health care providers during visits; collect and prepare specimens for laboratory testing; perform ECG, Spirometry, and other in-office tests; administer vaccinations and medications; assist during procedures.

Complete records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.

Record billing information of services rendered; proofread medical coding of visits; complete insurance forms; respond to insurance and other third-party inquiries.

Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, verifying receipt.

Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
Salary is based on experience. The position includes full benefits, including paid vacation, person and sick leave, and fully-paid health and dental insurance.
