As a key member of the marketing communications team, the Social Media Coordinator will manage, develop and grow the Center‘s portfolio of social media platforms, harnessing the power of digital and social media to advance the Center’s objectives.
Social Media Coordinator Los Angeles LGBT Center
Strategy & Planning
1) Audit the Center’s use of social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr), develop recommendations for improvement and prioritize expansion to other platforms.
2) Audit the use of social media by Center programs and develop strategies to support program staff to use social media more effectively and in compliance with Center brand guidelines. 3) Report key baseline metrics for the Center’s social media platforms and work with leadership to develop six and twelve month goals for growth. 4) Prepare monthly reports highlighting key metrics and progress toward goals. 5) Track and evaluate new campaigns, practices, technologies, platforms and trends in digital/social media engagement and recommend strategies for employing those that would have value to the Center. 6) Identify and then act upon key opportunities in real time to ensure the Center’s voice is a part of conversations on social media.Operational Management
1) Develop and share content, consistent with brand guidelines, across the Center’s current and future social media platforms to support the goals for each platform and to advance the organization’s objectives. Work in collaboration with MarCom staff to develop video or graphic content.
2) Actively engage current and new audiences across all social media platforms.
3) Track key metrics related to postings and adapt content and schedule of postings to support the goals for each platform.
4) Monitor social media use by Center programs and coach program staff on how to use the platforms more effectively, consistent with the Center’s brand.
5) Monitor engagement, conversations and messages via social media, respond to queries when appropriate, and apprise supervisor of any issues of concern.
6) Be ready and prepared to quickly share breaking news via social media.
7) Integrate social media content and contribute additional content to the Center’s website.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
1) 2-3 years of experience, ideally for a non-profit organization, managing content and engagement for social media platforms that include (but are not limited to) Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.
2) Experience compiling and analyzing analytics from social media channels.
3) Familiarity with HTML and website content management systems.
4) Proven track record of creating successful and goal-oriented social media campaigns.
5) A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBT people.
6) Exceptional writing and communication skills.
7) A self-starter who can work quickly and independently in a fast-paced campaign environment, managing multiple projects in an ever-changing environment.
8) Creative and detail-oriented person who thinks like a journalist (i.e. news identification, feature opportunities, current events).
9) Willing and able to work evenings and weekends, when necessary.
10) Skills in video production, editing, and/or graphic design a plus.
11) Proven track record of strong customer-centric focus.
