The Striped Queer is a volunteer-organized no-budget film festival on Lake Constance, which is home to every spring for about 12 days in Zebra cinema Constance. The festival is dedicated to all the films that move freely outside of heterosexuality. We want to provide a forum for anything that does not fit within the normative image of society, whether sexual, identity or other level. Therefore, we show a varied program of long and short films. We want to bring queer stories from around the world to the big screen, provide space for reflection and discussion; and check out the current trends of the queer scene to Constance. On display are about 10 feature films and a number varierende short films on the final evening. The festival will be opened always with a big party.

The festival can look back on a long tradition, although name, organizer * inside and scope have changed greatly over time. The zebra cinema already organized in 1980’s annual gay and lesbian film festival called  Warm winter . At that time it was “love makeup, not war – and with whom and how many you want” with the slogan launched. The decades after it has then also claimed a matter of course every year its place in the zebra program.

Now that homosexuality is socially accepted apparently stronger than ever, will be charged the existence of such a festival called into question Despite (or perhaps because of it). For us, however, this means that the mere fact that the Queer Striped provides material for discussion, is already one of the reasons why it has not become obsolete. Without Festival no discussion, no debate and no reflection without reflection, no consciousness without consciousness no motion and no motion, no change.
