The well-known story of teenage lovers, Romeo and Juliet, has been the subject of many ballets over the years. This production tries hard to retell the story in an innovative and fresh way and almost succeeds in a triumphant energetic and testosterone fuelled production combining digital technology with an eclectic mix of dance styles and musical themes. It’s a production that’s bold and tongue in cheek and feels utterly fresh whilst still rooted in tradition. There’s a definite homage to West Side Story there too with some of the gang scenes.
