— Summit for LGBT students to be held May 30, 2015 in Sao Paulo, Brazil– Reaching Out, the United States-based organization dedicated to promoting the education, visibility and networking capabilities of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) business students, is expanding into Brazil by hosting the inaugural Reaching OUT: Brazil Summit on May 30, 2015 in São Paulo. The one-day conference will provide LGBT students and young professionals in Brazil and surrounding countries an opportunity to discover the value and importance of being out as an LGBT person in the workplace. “The conference gives students the opportunity to connect with their peers and to learn from and be inspired by professional LGBT participants,” said Reaching Out Executive Director Matt Kidd. “This is the perfect environment to network with top-tier employers in consulting, finance, technology and marketing, who are interested in recruiting LGBT talent.” According to Kidd, Reaching OUT: Brazil will follow a similar model to Reaching OUT’s American-based ROMBA Conference which started as a 100 person 1-day event 17 years ago and has grown into a 3-day, 1400 person conference. “We see the Brazil summit as an ideal way to work with our alumni and Brazilian professionals to help create opportunities for LGBT young professionals abroad,” explained Kidd. “Our hope is that Reaching OUT: Brazil becomes its own annual event and organization.” With presenting sponsor McKinsey & Company, Reaching OUT: Brazil is also sponsored by AmBev, Facebook, Goldman Sachs, and JP Morgan. Companies including Google, AT Kearney, and PricewaterhouseCoopers are also participating. Vincente Assis, Managing Partner of McKinsey & Company’s Brazil office, said, “As a founding sponsor of Reaching OUT’s U.S. conference, we are proud to help bring this event to Brazil. McKinsey is a place where our LGBT colleagues thrive, and a successful workplace is one that encompasses different people, perspectives, backgrounds, and ideas.” Registration for the Reaching OUT: Brazil Summit is free for current LGBT undergraduate and graduate students and a limited number of young professionals. The event will be held at Fundação Getúlio Vargas, Avenida 9 de Julho, 2029, Bela Vista, São Paulo, SP 01313-902 from 9 am to 6 pm on May 30, 2015.
