Channel 5, the broacaster of Celebrity Big Brother could face investigation from Ofcom, after the regulator confirmed that they had received a number of complaints about the boxer's anti-gay remarks.
In an email to TheGayUK the broadcast regulator said that a number of people had complained, but No decision to formally investigate has yet been made at this stage,"
Brother Big Producers quickly released this statement:
'Following Evander Holyfield’s comments about his personal views of homosexuality last night, Big Brother spoke to him in the diary room. Evander was told that his views weren’t shared by a large section of society and that expressing those views and the language he used could be seen as extremely offensive to many people. He was warned to think carefully about repeating them. Evander understood and accepted this.
The producers of Big Brother will continue to monitor this and will take further appropriate action should a similar matter arise again.'
However no apology has been made by the broadcaster or Holyfield.
Boy George waded into the arena, by Tweeting:
'Shame, I had such admiration for Mr Evander Holyfield, he seemed dignified and I was sure he was a cool, smart, giant!'
