Men’s bedding line to support homeless youth shelter

Thread Experiment, the first-ever men’s bedding line announces its first official philanthropic partner, the Los Angeles LGBT Center. As a part of their one-for-one program, Thread Experiment will supply the Center’s homeless youth shelter with a sheet set for each full set boughton the brand’s e-commerce site, www.ThreadExperiment.com.

Thread Experiment was founded in April 2015 with the objective to revolutionize the bedding industry. Founders Justin Mikita, Greg Shugar, and Greg Winner found that there was space in the market for bedding tailored to men, especially as the menswear industry continues to boom. Part of the brand’s objective also involves giving back.

Mikita, along with husband, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, has been working on LGBT and marriage equality causes for years. They founded “Tie The Knot,” a bow-tie line with proceeds going to fight Prop 8 and legalize same-sex marriages throughout the United States. He has partnered and volunteered with the Los Angeles LGBT Center in the past as well, making this partnership and ideal fit.

We are proud to partner with such an important and worthy organization like the Los Angeles LGBT Center,” says Mikita, co-founder and creative director of Thread Experiement. “Their work has been empowering generations of displaced LGBT youth and as a brand, we are honored to be a part of their ongoing history.”

The Los Angeles LBGT Center has been providing indelible services to the community since 1969. In addition to providing housing for homeless youth, the

Center has programs across key categories: health, social services, education, and leadership and advocacy. Each month the Center welcomes more than 42,000 visits from youth and adults. Their work with homeless youth is important in Los Angeles as a stagger 40% of homeless youth in that city identify as LGBT.

“I admire and appreciate the social awareness and generosity of Thread Experiment,” says Los Angeles LGBT Center CEO Lorri L. Jean. “We’re grateful that this partnership will help provide additional comfort and a small luxury to the many homeless LGBT youth we serve.”

The partnership between Thread Experiment and the Los Angeles LGBT Center takes effect on Thursday, June 22, 2015 – coinciding with the global Pride schedule. Every sheet, duvet, or comforter set purchased on www.ThreadExperiment.com will result in the donation of a basic twin set to the Center.
