The Associate Director of Leadership Development in the Global Engagement Program is a regular, full-time position that reports to the Director of Global Engagement and is based in Washington, DC. The Associate Director will be responsible for working with the Director and other relevant staff to help develop and implement a plan for creating professional development opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) advocates from around the world.

Program Development and Implementation : Work with the Director and other relevant staff to help develop and implement a strategic plan for creating professional development opportunities for LGBT advocates from around the world, including methods of sharing their experience with HRC’s staff and sharing the experience of HRC’s staff with those advocates.
Development : Work with the Director and other relevant staff to put together proposals to acquire new resources to support new programmatic endeavors. Management : Assist Director with managing the global fellowships program. Outreach: Increase HRC’s visibility and presence abroad and improve contacts with LGBT NGOs and advocates overseas. Additional: duties/responsibilities as required by the Director. Position Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree required with at least three to five years of relevant experience in culturally-competent training/facilitating, executing well-organized international conferences/workshops and evaluating their success. Candidates must be entrepreneurial and must have the relevant skills to engage in an in-depth planning process required for launching new programmatic work, bringing enthusiasm to the challenges that arise along the way. Candidates must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple projects. Candidates must have excellent speaking and writing skills. Foreign language skills are a plus. Ability to travel 25% of the time. Candidate should have a strong grasp of international LGBT issues and a demonstrated commitment to advancing LGBT equality and/or strengthening civil society abroad.
