The Corporate Relations & Events Manager (CREM) has full charge of creating and implementing Horizons events, and corporate sponsorship programs. Working in close coordination with the Director of Development, the CREM will have significant and direct responsibility for key development activities and outcomes. The CREM serves as a critical face of the foundation with external constituencies, including individual donors, corporate supporters, and vendors. Self-motivation, innovation, extroversion, detail-orientation, the ability to successfully handle multiple projects, and sound judgment are essential in this position.
Corporate Relations & Events Manager Horizons Foundation
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- The CREM will successfully plan and implement the organization’s fundraising events, including the annual gala and auction, and golf tournament. Event-related responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conceptualize fresh and successful themes for existing events and analyze potential new events opportunities as they emerge
- Maintain events schedule, with timelines to ensure that adequate planning and preparation time is included
- Assist with preparation and oversight of event budgets to ensure that revenues are optimized, and expenses remain within budget
- Identify and work with relevant vendors, including caterers, designers, venues, and consultants, and in-kind donors to events
- Oversee creation and production of all collateral materials related to events — invitations, programs, etc.
- Ensure that all materials are sent with appropriate lead-times
- Create successful corporate, media, and in-kind sponsorship programs
- Recruit/coordinate volunteers and committees to achieve goals
- Ensure that all events receive maximum visibility
- Ensure that all appropriate event follow-ups and acknowledgements are completed, results are accurately recorded, and feedback regarding successes and needed improvements is sought out and used
- Ensure that hosts, in-kind sponsors, volunteer committee members and others who contribute to events are adequately thanked
2. The CREM will successfully plan and implement Horizons’ Philanthropy Series, a series of inspiring and educational events for donors. This includes:
- Proposing a schedule of fresh content that will interest donors and potential donors
- Create a plan for marketing the programs to increase attendance
- Identify and secure corporate sponsorship for the series
- Work with other D-Team staff to ensure that all events are flawlessly executed
- Ensure that panelists, hosts and others who contribute to the programs are adequately thanked
3. The CREM hass full charge responsibility for Horizons Professional Advisors Series, which deepens Horizons’ relationships with individuals who work in the financial services sector with LGBT clients. This includes:
- Working with the Professional Advisors Council to develop programs
- Marketing the PAC directory to maximize revenues
- Identify and secure corporate sponsorship for the program
- Working with D-Team to ensure timely and compelling invitations, press releases, other communications that promote attendance
- Working with D-Team to ensure flawless execution of all programs including RSVPs, nametags, confirmations, evaluations, etc.
- Ensuring that CEUs are available to attendees whenever appropriate
- Ensure that panelists, hosts and others who contribute to the programs are adequately thanked
4. The CREM plans and facilitates other donor-related or fundraising events that come up throughout the course of the year, including Leadership Circle Luncheon, Legacy-Loyalty Events, House Parties and other events by:
- Securing venues
- Arranging catering and wine donations
- Working with D-Team to ensure invitations, emails and RSVPs are managed
- Working with D-Team to ensure flawless execution of all programs including RSVPs, nametags, confirmations, etc. ,
- Ensure that hosts and others who contribute to the programs are adequately thanked
5. The CREM ensures that Horizons meets or exceed budget for Corporate Sponsorships related to events each year by actively:
- Maintaining and deepening Horizons’ existing corporate relationship
- Continually scouting for new corporate partners
- Developing exceptional partnership programs
6. The CREM is the liaison to HYPE — Horizons’ Young Professionals for Equality — and will work closely with that group to help realize its goals and strengthen its relationship to the Foundation.
Other duties:- Represent Horizons with community groups as needed
- Attend events, staff meetings, board/development committee meetings, and other organizational meetings and events
- Ensure maintenance of accurate and complete development files
- Other development and communications duties as assigned
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum two years of verifiable work history in full-charge events management
- Demonstrated experience in building successful corporate sponsorship programs
- High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs
- Working knowledge of with CRM databases, Salesforce preferred
- Ability to speak and write persuasively and professionally
- Superb attention to detail, and commitment to highest quality outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Creativity, outgoing personality, and ability to work well with many types of individuals
- Solid teamwork skills and ability to work successfully in a demanding nonprofit environment
- Commitment to the LGBT community
Physical Requirements: This job requires the ability to lift up to 45 lbs. and other physical abilities required to actively participate in event set-up and break-down.
