MOVIES: Pride Does Us Proud

(GayWebSource.com - Gay News & Press Network) - Posted by Jake Simpson - TheGayUK.com The Brits made their mark amongst the winners of the coveted DORIAN AWARDS, which were announced in Hollywood today. They are voted on and awarded by the Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association (GALECA), which is comprised of over 110 movie and TV critics (including our Contributing Editor Roger Walker-Dack) and covers 25 categories, from mainstream to LGBTQ-centric, from Rising Star to Music Video of the Year. Eddie Redmayne continued his winning streak and was voted BEST FILM PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR by an Actor, and the British comedy PRIDE was voted both BEST LGBTQ FILM OF THE YEAR and also UNSUNG FILM OF THE YEAR. Other highlights in this years list of DORIAN AWARD WINNERS were the 5 Awards picked up for the ground breaking TV series TRANSPARENT (which can be viewed on Amazon.co.uk), and the fact that GALECA recognized Ava DuVernay as FILM DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR for SELMA after she has been very controversially excluded from so many other Awards Lists this season. The Film of the Year went to BOYHOOD which also has a very good chance to win this category at the OSCARS too next month. Here is the full list.
