As coordinator of our SAGE program, the successful candidate for this position will oversee support systems for local LGBTQ+ elders and will coordinate the diversity awareness education of select elder care service providers who interact with this population.
The Out Alliance SAGE is a voice for Rochester’s older gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, queer, and intersex adults. It provides opportunities for personal growth, connection to community, and access to senior services. - Refer clients to programs and services designed for aging as needed, acting as a liaison between client and appropriate service provider.
- Advocate for the well-being of older adults, including monitoring for elder abuse, depression, and need.
- Recruit select aging services vendors for “Safe Zone” training and participation in education programs that will result in designation as a “supportive vendor” for LGBTQ+ people.
- Plan monthly “Lunch and Learn” events open to clients and service vendors that highlight best practices to enhance quality of life, health and wellness as people “age in place”.
- Collaborate with HCR (Home Care of Rochester) to maximize distribution efficacy of programs and resources to potential and existing clients.
