Rescue Social Change Group (Rescue SCG) is searching for a professional and experienced Social Media Group Manager to establish, maintain and expand the online presence of a Rescue SCG’s LGBT campaign. These are long-term campaigns and social marketing programs that primarily focus on tobacco prevention. This new campaign is designed to reach Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) young adults (ages 18 – 24) nationwide. The LGBT Campaign Social Media Group Manager role supports these efforts on platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter by implementing effective and cutting-edge strategies to build the audience, increase sustained engagement and drive traffic to campaign media. Support would be provided either by the Group Manager personally or by the Group Manager’s growing team of digital and social media developers and managers.

Rescue SCG is a for-profit behavior change marketing agency. Clients include local, state, and federal government organizations as well as not-for-profits, schools, and foundations mainly addressing tobacco use, with growing services in violence, binge drinking, and obesity prevention. Rescue SCG provides services in strategic planning, research, and marketing to execute behavior change programs nationwide. Rescue SCG efforts are primarily focused on youth and young adult populations to cause behavior change through education, policy change and/or culture change. Rescue SCG’s annual sales have grown over 100% in the past 3 years and are expected to more than quadruple in the next 2 years thanks to new, secured contracts. The Rescue SCG team is creative, and challenging industry standards to develop effective and sustainable solutions to public health issues.
Position Description:
The LGBT Campaign Social Media Group Manager reports to the LGBT Campaign Brand Director, is responsible for establishing, maintaining and expanding the online presence of Rescue SCG’s LGBT campaign efforts. The job of the LGBT Campaign Social Media Group Manager entails activities pertaining to, but not limited to:
Social Media Management:
- Extensive use of social media technology is required;
- Manage or support all of Rescue SCG’s client social media assets including external site profiles (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and internally hosted blogs;
- Develop innovative strategies to drive traffic to social media pages and engage young adults in conversation;
- Develop custom content for a variety social media channels;
- Ensure regular dissemination of campaign messages through social media channels;
- Train staff on social media strategies and review their work regularly;
- Analyze social media page performance and make appropriate adjustments to reach social media performance goals;
- Compile comprehensive reports on social media performance using internal templates and professional social media reporting tools;
- Develop creative concepts for engaging digital experiences with technology partners
- Develop custom social media content and online media;
- Provide social media assistance to brand/campaign managers, especially in cases of negative public commentary and/or social media communication crises;
- Manage social media-related vendors and technology partnerships; and
- Develop and promote best practices for campaign development, implementation and reporting.
Digital Media Management:
- Generate paid, owned and earned media for campaigns;
- Plan, develop and manage paid media for Facebook and Google AdWords campaigns, YouTube video campaigns and direct digital media buys;
- Maximize impact of ad spend by analyzing ad performance and conducting A/B testing; and
- Review and approve digital media buys from partner agencies.
Client Relations:
- Communicate directly with clients to explain social media plans, strategies and reports; and
- Manage client accounts that exclusively focus on LGBT digital and social media.
Employee Supervision:
- Hire, train, manage and evaluate performance of the LGBT social media team, such as community managers and analysts; and
- Review the work of the LGBT social media team regularly.
Other:
- Represent Rescue SCG at conferences; and
- Other duties as required.
Candidate Requirements
Environment: Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and computer and Internet access. Must be available to work non-traditional hours such as late nights and weekends. All business-related environments are tobacco-free.
Physical Requirements: Able to remain in a sitting position for prolonged periods of time and stoop, bend, reach, climb stairs, and move freely throughout the building for the performance of duties. Able to read from a computer or laptop monitor for several hours at a time including fonts of various sizes from a variety of sources. Able to travel nationwide as needed to meet with clients, coworkers, or attend meetings and seminars.
Travel: Estimated once per month
Training: A comprehensive training would be provided to the selected candidate. The training will be conducted at a Rescue SCG office and paid for by RSCG.
Position Location: San Diego, San Francisco, CA or Los Angeles, CA (after 6 month training period in San Diego, CA)
Salary/Status: FT Exempt Position. Salary Based on Salary History, Experience and Education Level; Salary Range Possible $57,000 – $76,000
Benefits: Eligible to participate in Performance-Based Bonuses and company benefit plans

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree +4 years relevant experience OR 9 years relevant experience OR Master’s Degree +2 years relevant experience
Proven knowledge of today’s LGBT community;
Experience and success with social media for business purposes (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, YouTube, etc.);
Experience developing custom content for a variety of social channels;
Experience writing, building and optimizing social media ad campaigns (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube);
Experience analyzing social media metrics;
Experience evaluating new tools for potential adoption in the company;
Experience training, mentoring and managing others
Proven ability to work with multiple teams (creative, web, client services) in the production of a final work product;
Strong verbal communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and communicate with clients on delicate matters
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to details
Strong editing/writing skills for various client reports, marketing materials, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in the LGBT community and/or with LGBT young adults;
Experience with public health efforts;
Creative experience to support creative team members and develop new media;
Experience supervising a social media team;
Experience identifying and evaluating potential media partners;
Demonstrated ability to excel in high-stress, fast-paced environments
Proven ability to quickly identify and solve problems
Non-tobacco-use is highly preferred because we only have tobacco-free environments and also to be consistent with our tobacco prevention campaign goals.
