Wildly energetic performance piece fuses gay pride, social justice and artistic expression
Sofia University is proud to host internationally acclaimed performance artist and author, Tim Miller. The special event will take place on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 7:30pm-10:00pm in the Sofia University Auditorium. Tim’s creative work as a performer and writer explores the artistic, spiritual and political topography of his identity as a gay man.
“Sofia University is honored to host Tim Miller. He is a tireless activist for equality and exquisite performance artist who appeals to our higher selves as he calls us all to a more just society,” says Sofia University President Dr. Neal King.
Hailed for his humor and passion, Tim’s performances have been presented all over North America, Australia, and Europe in such prestigious venues as Yale Repertory Theatre, the Institute for Contemporary Art (London), the Walker Art Center (Minneapolis), and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Tim has taught performance in the theater departments at UCLA, Cal State LA and NYU. He is a founder of Performance Space 122 in NYC and Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica, CA.
“I am so excited to perform at Sofia. I can’t imagine a better place for my work which taps the power of personal narrative as a way of claiming agency in your life, challenging injustice, raising your voice and owning your human journey,” says Miller.
