Bare: The Rock Musical

It is rare for me to outright insist on something but, if you see nothing else this year, see this. I will be reviewing it again this weekend and have already booked to see it again during its run.

Ross William Wildand Michael Vinsen return to the principal roles of Jason and Peter, alongside Ashley Andrews, David Albury, Adam Bailey, Luke Baker, Nadine Cox, Christopher Dickins, Jemma Geanaus, Ashley Gilmour, Tash Holway, Daniel Hope, Charlotte Jeffery, Claudia Kariuki, Annie Kitchen, Gary Lee Netley, Alison Pope, Lauren Rae, Jodie Steele, and Molly Stewart.

A contemporary rock musical, bare tells the story of a group of students in a Catholic co-ed boarding school navigating their way through a journey of self-discovery, identity, sexuality, and religion, examining the consequences of baring a soul or hiding it from those who matter most. bare was first staged at the Hudson Theatre in Los Angeles in 2000, before opening Off-Broadway in 2004, and has since received over 100 productions in cities all over the world.

bare is directed by Paul Taylor-Mills, with music by Damon Intrabartolo, lyrics by John Hartmere and a book by Intrabartolo and Hartmere. It is produced by Kylie Vilcins for Paul Taylor-Mills Ltd with choreography by Richard Jones, design by David Shields and casting by Will Burton.

bare plays at the Greenwich Theatre until 27 October. Tickets, priced £17.50 / £20, are still available (probably not for long – its previous run sold out within days) from www.greenwichtheatre.org.uk
