American humourist David Sedaris has quickly become an improbable U.K. sensation with sold out tours, a Radio 4 series and a series of best selling books.

The improbable thing is that an impish little man with a slightly high pitched American accent can stand up and read out essays and observations and have a huge venue rapt and hanging on his every word. Sedaris is so witty that he could read out your supermarket shopping and have you in uproar. Whether he’s talking about his partner, Hugh, learning a foreign language or trying to drown a mouse in a bucket; his take on modern life is unique.

He’s also possibly the friendliest celebrity in the history of the world and lingers around having long and amusing conversations with the audience during after show book signings.
